Kaffir Lily, Bee and Sweet Corn Lunch

23 Aug

Much has gone over in the garden but the Kaffir Lilies are looking lovely.

This striking Geranium was a present from dear friends a couple of years ago and serendipitously, just as I went to get the photo for them, in flew a bee!

We harvested our first Sweet Corn  today, steamed them and ate them just as they are with lots of salty butter melted over them – fabulous!

    Your corn looks FAB!

Wonder if you’ve had a chance to have a dinner subsidized yet:

The British government has an audacious plan to bring people back to restaurants and help the limping economy: Half-off meals. Her Majesty’s Government has stepped in to cover 50 percent of any diner’s bill, up to 10 pounds (or about $13), on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

It seems to be working. Restaurant sales have surged. The government has now helped pay for almost as many meals (64 million) as Britain has people (67 million).

We tried last week to book at our favourite place for tonight for our anniversary (53) but they are full Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday ! We did have a subsidised lunch when our daughter was here which was very helpful! 🙂

We have, thank you. I cooked Duck Confit, our favourite and followed it with a Gu pudding. Do you have those? Delicious, hot and gooey chocolate with no work from me! 🙂

I have never heard of Gu pudding . . . but it sounds like a winner!
