Another Sunbeam, Baby Talk and Supper

1. This morning started cloudy so the low sunbeams when they appeared lit up a different part of the dresser highlighting one of my favourite paintings, only 6″x6″, by Sasha Harding, of someone enjoying her homemade soup. Isn’t it delightful?

2. Daughter No 3 phoned this afternoon and we could hear Grand-baby B chatting away in the background. She will be two in April and already has many many words, loving to repeat anything said to her.
3. Our lovely next-door neighbour brought our supper in for us this evening, a delicious goulash with brown rice, salad and plain yogurt. Such kindness from so many beautiful people.

Shadows, Tulips and Little Gems

1 I love how the low winter sun lights up items on our dresser in the kitchen. Here the beautiful curly handle on the Jane Hamlyn salt glazed mug is highlighted and so is the rich blue of the long spout jug.

2. Our friends yesterday brought some lovely tulips in purple, white and green, the Suffragette colours and the low sun lit up some of the blooms this morning.

3. A delightful little present arrived from America today, a tiny pair of scissors, less than two inches long and perfect for keeping handy for my crafty projects.

Bird Watching, Visitors and Singing

1. I sat in the sun room this morning watching the garden birds coming in to feed, nothing unusual but a simple delight nonetheless .

2. Friends whom I have known since we were children came to call this morning and how lovely it was to catch up.
3. Such a lovely phone call this evening – from my other choir, The Inglehearts – singing down the phone to me and sending their love. Thank you all so much. It shouldn’t be too long before I can join you all for part of the session.

Tulip, Polish Card and A Galleon

1. The inside of the dying tulip is very beautiful.

2. A birthday card arrived from my lovely Brother-in-law in Poland, having been delayed in the post. Just look at the delicate cut out at the front.

3. And now look at the beauty that lay within! I could hardly believe my eyes – such skill, such delicate beauty.

Walk, Parcel and Today

1. I went out for a walk today! It was only for five minutes along the road and it started raining – but my goodness, it felt good!
2. A delightful parcel arrived today with a card made by one of our Choir babies, T, who moved away to Glasgow and some lovely multi-coloured wool for another project to keep me occupied while recovering. L, his Mum, knows me well! Thanks, L.

3. I love the philosophy on this card.

Iris Reticulata, Tulips and Crochet

For the first time since my operation on 29th December, I had almost a full night’s sleep and woke up feeling brilliant! I invited myself next door for a cuppa and had a delightful half hour with Sue, catching up on what has been going on while I have been hibernating!
This pretty bag was delivered by another of our lovely neighbours a couple of days ago and out have popped beautiful purple Iris Reticulata, some of my all time favourite Spring flowers. The lovely Mr S will plant them out soon. Thank you K&R.

I have been spoilt too with this beautiful bunch of tulips, again a few days ago. Thank you R&R.

Those of you who are regular readers will know that I need to be creating something be it sewing, knitting or baking. I knew I wouldn’t be up to reading patterns post op so I started a small crochet project where it wouldn’t matter if I made mistakes! Thanks to Attic24, a delightfully creative blog, I was inspired to try a wreath. It was going to be a Christmas one but I have now decided it will be a celebration of Spring. Here it is so far…….

Thank you to all of you who have sent kind get well messages. Every day brings a bit more progress – more strength, better at the exercises, better concentration but still hours of daytime sleep!

Guest Post from Hawai’i No 3

This is the beautiful black sand beach at Kalapana. It was overtaken by the lava flow many years ago, but it is now reforming.

Thank you, Deborah, for another beautiful photograph.

Guest Post from Hawai’i No 2

The Mauna Kea silversword, Argyroxiphium sandwicense subsp. sandwicense, is a highly endangered flowering plant endemic to the island of Hawaiʻi (Big Island) of Hawaii. It is the “crown jewel”[2] of the volcanic mountain Mauna Kea,

The magnificent Silversword fern, grows for between 5 – 40 years and then, when it blooms, it dies. It is very rare to see it in bloom and my sister saw it and captured it for you to see.

Isn’t it amazing?
