Last Night’s Moon, Nest Building and A Miniature Horse

27 Apr

1   I was catching up with blogs late last night and discovered Alastair’s post about a pink moon. That made me realise that the moon was just past full. I looked out of the window to discover a beautiful big moon, low in the sky and almost full and so out I went to capture it if possible. I have no tripod so this is far from perfect but I love the way it shines through the foliage.

2   We saw this pair of Jackdaws yesterday. He was working so hard collecting for the nest while she sat there appearing to say, “Well, keep going! That’s not enough yet!”

"Is this enough?"

“Is this enough?”

%22okay! That'll do for now!%22

“Okay! That’ll do for now!”

3   Working in the front garden this afternoon, we heard a soft neighing and looked up to see this tiny horse going by. The owner was very happy to hold him still so that I could take a photo and told us that his name was Boris.

Always love your pics, Sally, but these were extra special. I see a hint of pink around the lower edge of the moon. You speak “bird” very well!

So many blogs have been talking about this moon – in the US and elsewhere. We had it here in New Zealand, huge, and golden… It’s lit up the whole house as it moves across the sky- I keep all the curtains pulled back so i can see it when I turn over in the night…
Gorgeous nesting birds, and exquisite little horse… If it was mine, it would be living in the house!!!!

I am pretty sure that Boris is a Miniature Horse, see Gentle Carousel Miniature Therapy Horses on FB.

Thank you. I was quite pleased with the effect but I must get a tripod. On the other hand, the wind was moving the clouds so quickly, by the time I’d got set up I would have missed that particular shot. 🙂

How wise you were to take the picture at that moment. Can’t tell how many times I’ve ended up cross and frustrated with myself for not having a camera to hand at that special moment; you so rarely get a second chance. It was a beautiful shot; all the more so because it was spontaneous.

My camera is with me all the time! I loved how the shot worked out too. 🙂
