Nasturtiums, September Rain and More Earrings

Drawing the curtains back this morning, the Nasturtiums which are growing through a neighbour’s hedge across the road caught my eye.

It is September and it is raining reminding me of my Mum and Dad’s song, September in the Rain. They married on September 2nd 1939 and war was declared the very next day so instead of going to Paris as planned they had two nights in Blackpool. Some of the words seem quite prescient now.

           “September In The Rain”

The leaves of brown came tumbling down
Remember, in September, in the rain
The sun went out just like a dying ember
That September in the rainTo every word of love I heard you whisper
The raindrops seemed to play our sweet refrain
Though spring is here, to me it’s still September
That September in the rainTo every word of love I heard you whisper
The raindrops seemed to play our sweet refrain
Though spring is here, to me it is still September
That September in the rain
That September that brought the pain
That September in the rain

I bought these black and red earrings at The Heard Museum in Phoenix, Navajo jewellery again, and they are for wearing at gigs where our ‘uniform’ is black with red and sparkle – perfect! I wore them at our Peace concert last week.

September’s End , Single Flower and Some Fun

1   Walking up from town this afternoon with Autumny leaves falling all around me and crunching under my feet, the first lines of  ‘September in the Rain’ came to me.    “The leaves of brown came tumbling down….”
This was my Mum and Dad’s special song. They married on September 2nd 1939 and I love how they visit me at unexpected moments.  Listen to Frank Sinatra’s version here.

2   Just by the front door, climbing up the granite wall, there’s a single Campanula flower.

3    I saw this on YouTube this morning and it made me smile all the way through. Have a look. I hope it does the same for you.

I have put up the recipe for Tomato Torte today. Do let me know if you try it. It is truly delicious!
