Sending Love, Pumpkin Soup and Fireworks

This ancient Sanskrit poem has been a source of strength for me through a number of very difficult times – when one of our baby twins was desperately ill and through various other family traumas that many of us have to deal with from time to time.

Look to this day
for it is life
the very life of life.
In its brief course lie all
the realities and truths of existence
the joy of growth
the splendour of action
the glory of power.
For yesterday is but a memory
And tomorrow is only a vision.
But today well lived
makes every yesterday a memory
of happiness
and every tomorrow a vision of hope.
Look well, therefore, to this day….

I give it to you again here in the hope that it will help anyone else out there who needs to make the most of each and every day to create those memories of happiness and to make ‘every tomorrow a vision of hope.’

Our lovely neighbour brought us half a pumpkin yesterday and today I have made a delicious Pumpkin Soup served with Spiced Pumpkin Seeds – scrumptious! Thanks, Sue.

On Saturday evening we went into Redruth to see the fire works and they were just fabulous!  Enjoy the gallery.I wish I could bring you the sounds and the smells as well!  Click on any photo to get the full effect.

Look To This Day, Flag and Salad

This poem is for a good friend, Marilyn, whom I have met through blogging.  I found this poem and read it every day for the years one of our baby twins was having heart operations, at 13 days, at 18 months and at 2 and a half. You’ll be glad to know he is in his 30s and thriving. It gave me comfort then and has given me comfort since. I suppose it is part of the philosophy behind my blog – find the beauty in every single day.   For Marilyn and Bobby, with love and hope.

Look to this day
for it is life
the very life of life.
In its brief course lie all
the realities and truths of existence
the joy of growth
the splendor of action
the glory of power.

For yesterday is but a memory
And tomorrow is only a vision.
But today well lived
makes every yesterday a memory of happiness
and every tomorrow a vision of hope.

Look well, therefore, to this day.
