The birds have been busy today in the sunshine. The Eryngium are finished being blue but I do like how they die and the Callianthus are coming into their own.

Goldfinch, Courgette Soup and Garden Herbs
1 Despite the heavy rain this morning, one of our Goldfinches came for some Nyger seed.
2 I’m still using the courgettes our lovely neighbour gave us the other day. Today it was Courgette Soup, very green and very delicious. It can be served chilled but I have put it in the freezer for lunch in the cooler months.
3 Then it was Courgette and Herb Risotto for supper! We are not vegetarians but do enjoy our meat free meals and this was no exception, full of goodness and flavour. I used Chives, Garlic Chives, Oregano, Basil and three kinds of mint, Ordinary, Pineapple and Peppermint. I love being able to go out and pick fresh herbs.
