Daffodils, Silk Pillows and Piano Lesson

1  There are daffodils and /or primroses in every hedgerow, by the side of the roads, in many fields and gardens and in my window boxes. What a beautiful yellow time of year this is!

2  After sleeping on silk pillows at KJ’s last week and my curls staying curly and a bit less wild, I decided to invest in some and they arrived today.

3  My piano lesson went well. My teacher G is one of the most encouraging and patient people I know.

Eric Clapton, ColourGirlz and Daffodils

1. Started teaching myself Eric Clapton’s “Wonderful Tonight” on the piano. Hard but beginning to make progress.

2.  The lovely Veronika (of ColourGirlz) is painting the woodwork in the bathroom and the utility room. It’s beginning to look really good. Just two more coats to go…..

3  Cheered by the beautiful big bunch of local daffodils in the fireplace in the sitting room. We’ve had them a whole week and they still look good.

Humanist Wedding, Cornish Daffodils and Today’s Batch of Marmalade

1 Had my first meeting with a delightful couple today planning their Humanist Wedding for May. Lots of lovely ideas and a really productive meeting.

2  Driving down towards Penzance I again saw fields of daffodils – so glorious and on Wednesday I bought lots from the Hayle area while in Truro and now they are all open.

3  The first two batches of marmalade are made! It takes a while and some effort but the pleasure from seeing all the jars of deep orange marmalade and of knowing how it will be relished more than make up for that!

Buzzard, Daffodils and Dancing to the Beat of Your Own Drum

!  Driving to Falmouth this morning I saw , on my favourite tree, just through Lanner, a beautiful buzzard. There being no other cars around, I was able to slow down and have a good look. What a creature!

2  On the same drive I went past the open gate to a whole field of golden daffodils and then began to realise that several fields in the distance were also yellow with daffodils in flower. That made me smile.

3  In my meeting with Humanist friends where we were finalising the social and meeting programmes for the year, someone mentioned Henry David Thoreau’s words about marching to the beat of a different drum.

“If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away.”
