Dorothy Nolte, Drumming and Hymn Pedalling

1   I was reminded of this piece and its attitude to children by a beautiful post I SEE YOU by http://aleafinspringtime.wordpress.com

Children Learn What They Live  By Dorothy Law Nolte, Ph.D.

If children live with criticism, they learn to condemn.
If children live with hostility, they learn to fight.
If children live with fear, they learn to be apprehensive.
If children live with pity, they learn to feel sorry for themselves.
If children live with ridicule, they learn to feel shy.
If children live with jealousy, they learn to feel envy.
If children live with shame, they learn to feel guilty.
If children live with encouragement, they learn confidence.
If children live with tolerance, they learn patience.
If children live with praise, they learn appreciation.
If children live with acceptance, they learn to love.
If children live with approval, they learn to like themselves.
If children live with recognition, they learn it is good to have a goal.
If children live with sharing, they learn generosity.
If children live with honesty, they learn truthfulness.
If children live with fairness, they learn justice.
If children live with kindness and consideration, they learn respect.
If children live with security, they learn to have faith in themselves and in those about them.
If children live with friendliness, they learn the world is a good place in which to live.

2   Lucy posted this delightful photo today. Tabitha must get the drumming gene from her Uncle Daniel!

3   I learnt how to do “Hymn pedalling’ today which my piano teacher tells me is really difficult but that I am a natural! Now I have to remember what to do and to practise it a lot before my next lesson.

Daffodils, Silk Pillows and Piano Lesson

1  There are daffodils and /or primroses in every hedgerow, by the side of the roads, in many fields and gardens and in my window boxes. What a beautiful yellow time of year this is!

2  After sleeping on silk pillows at KJ’s last week and my curls staying curly and a bit less wild, I decided to invest in some and they arrived today.

3  My piano lesson went well. My teacher G is one of the most encouraging and patient people I know.

Network Cornwall, Hyacinths and Marmite ‘n’ Shallot Scones

1  I was thinking this morning about all the happy things I have found, thanks to Network Cornwall. Using the network, I have:

  • found my kind and lovely piano teacher, Glynnis, who has been patiently teaching me for almost a year
  • found our super painter, Veronika, who is on her second job for us
  • been booked for a Baby Naming
  • found our brilliant carpenter Jo, who has made us some unique and lovely shelving
  • booked myself onto a photography class with Helen
  • started French conversation this afternoon with Jackie
  • bought and sold things
  • sought and given advice
  •  given stuff away
  •  made new friends
  • and got some followers for my Blog!       Thank you all!

2  The hyacinths planted before Christmas are in bloom and sending their scent everywhere, even over the top of the paint smell!

3  I made a batch of Dan Lepard’s Marmite and Red Onion Scones this morning ( had no red onions so used two of our home grown shallots)    Delicious buttered and warm straight out of the oven.
