Playing, The Nine Times Table and Tete à Tete

07 Feb

1   I loved this George Bernard Shaw quotation and its illustration sent by a friend – just keep on playing!

We don't stop playing

2   I was reminded of the delights of the 9 times table today.  I am intrigued by the patterns made by the numbers and the way all the ‘answers’ add up to 9. Simple fun! I bet there are some mathematicians out there who know even more of the magic of the nine. Do tell me!

3   I’ve brought a little sunshine indoors in the shape of a pot of miniature daffodils, the delightful Tete à Tete:

Tete à Tete

Tete à Tete

Sheer beauty

Sheer beauty

I’m putting the quote on my fridge. And I wish I’d know that about the nine times when I was learning it.

Yes, it certainly helps the learning – and is so simple to remember which suits me! 🙂

Haven’t seen that quote for along time, I had forgotten how good it is. When I was teaching junior kids I used to get them to play with the 9 times table – so many patterns.

Playful indeed, is the secret. We all know it, just forget to practice.

Ah, no more incessant grey, ‘nothing but blue skies do I see’. Comes down to mind over matter. If nature doesn’t cooperate, then ‘tête à tête amoureu , for love of living in sunshine, the kind you bring indoors to fight the drab outdoors.

Thank you again for your comments this morning.

Thank you, we are. Another huge storm coming tonight so hope no more damage is done to our coastline.
