ISS, Street Art and Hugs

I couldn’t sleep last night and went downstairs soon after 5am. The kitchen was as bright as if there were lights left on and I realised that the half moon was shining in a very clear sky. I stayed for several minutes looking at the stars and then the International Space Station appeared from the right and made its way across the sky. I checked on the website and saw that it was due over at 5.22. Serendipity indeed. I went back to sleep happy!

We are enjoying the street art in our town, encouraging people to wear their masks.I really like this one.

Dear friends from choir drove by today as I was planting bulbs in the front garden. They stopped and came into the back garden for tea, cake and a chat. It was so lovely to see them but we missed our hugs.

Christmas Day, Godrevy and A Goose (and ISS Again, with Photo!)

Just us this Christmas for the first time since we were married! After Birthday Breakfast – not mine but in honour of Daughter No 2 – we went off to Godrevy. For lunch we had Smoked Salmon and Prawn Stack, one of my recipes. We thought we really should do it ourselves as 1,788 people have looked at the recipe in December and it comes at the top of a Google search! It was delicious, of course! Now the goose is just out and resting so there won’t be another chance to post tonight – So, Happy Days to you all, my lovely readers.

Trelissick Gardens, Roast Ham and The International Space Station

Firstly, I would like to wish all my lovely readers a wonderfully Happy Christmas and a Peaceful New Year.

1 We went off to Trelissick Gallery today to see if we could find me a Christmas present. We did! Of course it is a surprise until tomorrow and it is to be my birthday present as well…. 2 It is traditional at our house to roast a ham for Christmas Eve and today was no different except that I made a wonderful crusty topping that was just delicious.

3 The International Space Station has passed over Britain twice this evening. The first time, 17.22, we were outside and chatting to our lovely neighbours while we watched but it was just too cloudy. The second time at 18.58 we watched it make its way across the sky. What magic! Some parents are telling their children that it is Father Christmas on his sleigh going by!

P.S. In the midst of our celebrations I just want to send my condolences to the mother in Glasgow who saw her 18 year old daughter and her own parents killed by the dust-cart that ran through Queen Street yesterday. What unimaginable horror to lose three precious loved ones at one fell sweep. My heart hurts for her. I send her love and hugs through the ether as so many others are doing today.
