A Poem and A Picture

09 Oct

At the end of September I posted a poem by  Rosemerry Wahtola Trommer that pleased me very much and one of my blogging friends, in her comments, told me that you can subscribe and get a poem every day in your inbox. Thank you unexpectedincommonhours. I did that and today came this most apt poem. As regular readers know the situation is one I have been in very recently.

On the Night Before Your Surgery

While one hand
brushes my teeth,
the other reaches
to your room far away
to cradle your heart
as you sleep.

I emailed the poet and she very kindly said I could post this special poem for you too. It really touched me.

Taken October 9th 2020

If any of my readers are in Florida, I hope you have gone somewhere safe.  My heart goes out to you all.

    We did evacuate, Sally.

The eye of Hurricane Milton flew over our villa and swirled around for about an hour. We were 20 miles inland and got home 36 hours after the storm passed.

We are fine and our place is fine, except for the garage door which needs its springs adjusted so it will open and close more smoothly. We are on the waiting list for service with a local company. They couldn’t guarantee us a spot. Just said they would call the day before to schedule.

We feel fortunate, but sad for so many neighboring communities. What a storm!

Oh my, Nancy, it must have been veery worrying to evacuate and not be sure what you might be going back to. I am so glad both you and your stuff are fine, especially you and yours as people are not replaceable. What a time it has been for some people – and not just in Florida. Sending love and so happy that you are safe. 🙂
