Poppy and Pudding

12 Jun

We have the most glorious red poppy, crumpled and very beautiful.

Supper tonight was delicious leftovers from last night followed by Mum’s Strawberry Shortcake, a dessert that brings back lots of memories. I made shortbread using Mum’s failsafe recipe and then the wondrous mixture of condensed milk with lemon, mixed until thick and then added lots of strawberries and blueberries.

It’s 3,5,7! 3 oz sugar, 5 oz butter and 7oz plain flour. Mix all together until it sticks together then press into a 9″ tin for thickish shortbread or into two 7″ for thin crisp biscuit. Cook at 325F 160C for about 30 mins until golden brown. The thin ones cook more quickly of course. Scrummy with strawberries or with a cup of coffee. 🙂

Wish I could share it with you! It’s very easy to make since it isn’t really postable! 🙂
