Forty two years ago yesterday, September 29th 1977, the older of our baby twins was operated on to save his life. He was 13 days old and the surgeon described his aorta as being as narrow as the inner tube of a biro. That wonderful surgeon, Mr Devereux, saved D’s life. I am reminded of this as a friend mentioned that yesterday was World Heart Day.
That lovely boy, who had to undergo two more heart operations, the second at 6 months and the final one at two and a half, is now the father of twins himself, LiveWires 5 and 6.
The most important thing for us all to learn, in my mind, is to be kind. The following is what I wish for all our LiveWires.

He went on to play American football which frightened me to death but he is well and happy now and that is all down to the lovely Mr Devereux. 🙂

We have a lot to thank good surgeons for in our family too! I’m glad your boy got all the help he needed.

The NHS has wonderful people working in its employ. They just need more funding to make sure that more outcomes are happy. Hope your boy is okay too. 🙂

They definitely need more funding. Always the same when a Conservative govt is in power. My lad has some way to go yet, but out of hospital at least. He’s just very tired all the time.

I once went to a meeting of Friends of the western Buddhists in London. We did a similar thing but the last step, was to extend good wishes towards someone we hated. I chose Mrs Thatcher and I wished she could meet a Buddhist and fall in love and give up politics!

Wise and beautiful. Inspiring and uplifting. A story of joy and hope. I will never look at a biro in the same way. Thank you!
