Rain, Kanoko Ami Pants and A Simple Supper

14 May

1   Tremendous storms today and although Tom Lehrer says, “The weather always looks worse through a window,” I did not venture out to discover if he was right today but took these photos from the front porch.

2    I took advantage of staying indoors to finish off another pair of Kanoko Ami pants for Grand-baby B. These should see her through the summer. I’ve knitted them in the softest bamboo cotton mix and I have almost finished a cardigan to wear with them.

3    Asparagus is now in season and a lovely summery contrast to the wintery weather outside. We had Asparagus and Pesto Pasta with Toasted Almonds and Parmesan Shavings – truly scrumptious!

When my husband asks what we are having for for tomorrow’s repasts, I now know to say, “Let’s just have a simple breakfast, lunch and supper. And since it is so simple you won’t have any trouble fixing it…pronto.”

    I love simple!!

One gust took down our Silver Birch! It had only been there for about 3 months and is now back, looking just the same. Hope it survives the trauma! Glad you didn’t get blown off the prom!

Tom Lehrer helped to forge part of my past so I appreciate the apt reference.

We grew up listening to the wonderful songs of Tom Lehrer and I heard him on the radio recently – a fascinating individual with a very clever mind. 🙂

Hey you call ‘front porches’ front porches, who’da thunk it.

Delicious photos, with the exception of B’s trousers; now those are well crafted trousers. Even an untrained eye for knitting can avowal to your knitting skills.
