One of my favorite peeves is tree rings. I love the way they look, yet who ever selects the tree, fails to realize that it will soon outgrow the iron decor and girdle itself in the process. Often here, I see the tree cut off and the iron ring left. What is wrong with this picture? If you have any say in the matter, watch this tree and insist that the ring be removed or enlarged, not death to the tree.

I have no say except that I am a citizen of this small town and I will certainly watch this tree and the others in the town and will draw attention to the problem in very good time. I was unaware of this concern until your comment. You can be sure I’ll watch out for all the trees in our neighbourhood! Thank you! 🙂

No miner stood like this, held his pick like this or ever held a gold nugget! However, it does honour the tin miner and our town was the centre of tin mining so…. But I wish they had found a different sculptor! 🙂
