Waking Up In Our Own Bed, Insurance and One Thousand and Ninety-five Beautiful Things

02 Nov

1    However lovely it is to travel, it’s always beautiful to wake up in your own bed!  I will be putting up lots more photos of our trip to share more of that amazing journey and what we learned with you all.

2    Our insurance company have responded very positively to our finding the dining room carpet drenched! The dehumidifier which usually switches itself off when the tank is full, didn’t! It overflowed instead. We might at last be able to replace the carpet which has been here since we moved in and which we have never liked so it’s not a problem but an opportunity!

3    I have been blogging for a whole year! That is at least 1095 beautiful things! I’ve gained 294 followers, been read in 117 countries, had over 20,000 hits and made so many lovely blogging friends  Thank you to you all for reading, liking and commenting. Every one is really appreciated.

I was asked recently by a fellow blogger, what do we bloggers get out of this activity? That made me think……

What have I got out of blogging?   Well, so much! I started my blog just for me and had no prior understanding of the friends I would make along the way, that people might actually be interested in what I was doing and that I would come to look forward so much to reading other people’s blogs and thoughts and that we could have conversations across the miles.

I have learned so much about other people’s lives, about the hardships some people face every day, about lives in other countries – blogging has opened up a whole new world for me! I love to read  comments on blogs too and when they touch a chord, I go and look at that person’s blog and another friendship begins to blossom. So, a heartfelt thank you to all of you out there and here’s a beautiful photo for you all.

It makes me wonder too, what is it that you get out of this blogging activity?

Happy anniversary, -looking forward to another year with posts full of insight.
I agree with you regarding blogging. It’s such a rewarding way to spend your time in front of the computer:) It’s like entering a parallel universe, where people actually care, and take interest in one another, guards down. Highly addictive:)

Happy Anniversary! This is a beautiful picture, I can only imagine the lovely shades of a new day beginning as you greeted the day. I share the sentiments as you with blogging, I started after someone suggested it to me and never thought what a wonderful opportunity it would be to express myself in words and pictures and indeed what a blessing it has been in meeting so many wonderful people . I have grown and learned so much, gone on adventures and visited such beautiful parts of the world through blogging. You have taught me to appreciate everything in the every day little things. Blessings – Patty

Travelling is amazing, but you’re right, nothing quite compares to waking up in your own bed after time away. I have a hard time sleeping in different beds, so I always pass out and sleep so amazing that first night back!

    Happy 1st birthday, Blog! Congrats!!!

You know, Sally, I NEVER IMAGINED I would be a ‘blogger’. I thought like that person who said WHAT??? do you get out of it?? However, like you, I started my blog for me – to get my story out of me – and then yes, you learn of people, their lives in different countries, and you; your travels are a delight for me to soak in – and your beautiful blessings daily: that is precisely why I followed you – I needed to be reminded.

So along the way, my blogging journey, I’ve subscribed to a page that reminds me of good things daily, I’ve started the http://www.VodkaWasMyMuse.wordpress.com to face my unhealthy habits in life, y and I’ve ‘met’ people with insightful opinions – Yaz (if you’ve ever read from her) etc etc. It is just a different world these days. I mean, I’m in touch with you & your beautiful meditations, though we are countries apart. It’s wonderful to be connected this way.

Re your carpet – I’m so glad for you!!! Glad you have insurance (I don’t have!) as that humidifier, not turning off WHEN YOU ARE AWAY got you new carpet. If it hadn’t turned off when you were home, you would have noticed & rushed to fix it. An opportunity indeed. Welcome home 🙂
