World Book Day, Bus Drivers and Narcissi

A lovely bookshop in Falmouth that we support posed the following question today, “If there was an adult world book day and you could go to work dressed as a book character, who would that be?”
I would be Pippi Longstocking. I loved her crazy adventures and even more, her red plaits! As a kid I really didn’t like my unruly curly hair (now I love it!) I wonder who you, Dear Readers, would dress up as……

I love the fact that Nottingham buses are giving free rides today if you show your book. Some of their  drivers have dressed up as their favourite book character to raise money for When You Wish Upon a Star. What an example to all bus companies!  If you use Facebook, here is the link to the story.

A flower from our garden for you – two  garden sculptures in the background.

Bookmark, Baking and Bulbs

What a lovely way to remind someone to whom you have lent a book where it needs to be returned.

Yesterday’s baking proved to be a success. We had Baked Pumpkin Cheesecake with Caramelised Pumpkin Seeds for lunch today. I had made a very small one for us to taste as well as the big one for Thanksgiving and that is now in the freezer.

Mr S planted the last of our Spring bulbs today, some Narcissi and some Tulips. We will look forward to the splashes of colour in a few months.

Seaside Adventures and Two Signs

Here’s a gallery of fun had by Grand-baby B today on or near Gyllyngvase Beach and at home on the most glorious day of the summer so far.

Two signs in Falmouth appealed to me this afternoon for very different reasons.

Poor doors!

Poor doors!

Oh, yes!

Oh, yes!

Weekly Photo Challenge: Selfie

Those of you who follow my blog will know that I went to a Cabaret Party last night. It was held in a fabulous independent bookshop in Falmouth called Bookmark and it is there that I took this selfie in the fish-eye mirror above the door. A Bookshop is just the best place for a party!
