Wild Waves, Peachy Clouds and Carn Brea

18 Jan

It’s still windy and we went to see the waves at Portreath. We were not disappointed!

Big waves

The inner harbour

At the end of the harbour

At the end of the harbour, a boiling sea

The view from Lighthouse Hill with peachy clouds

Look carefully and you will just see Carn Brea Castle and the Bassett Monument. Photo taken from moving car

Raw rage, the Atlantic at it’s best. Don’t get swept away.

We were safely behind the wall but one wave drenched us both unexpectedly and exhilaratingly! 🙂

We lose a few tourist every year on this side despite a gazillion signs warning of rogue waves.

We lose some too as they won’t obey the Red flags (that say don’t swim here), they ignore the Life guard advice and the tide times.

I see !!! Wild weather! – we have had some too, even in the middle of the summer, and our coast road was almost washed away – great swathe of it eaten by the sea, front gardens gone, and much of it cut off for over a week while the great holes and shattered road side is being roughly patched so we can get through the thirty mies of catastrophe…

It would be cool if the Live photos worked in the blog. Looks like a beautiful day.

It was terribly windy today, well in the morning and then it let off. It looks amazing you got them at the right time.

The photos are ‘live’ and move when I view them but it doesn’t seem to have worked in the blog, sadly. Mr S and I got a real soaking when we turned away for a moment! 🙂
