1 Sitting looking at our one year old Malus, I was thinking how few leaves there were and that at the top there was a rather strange leaf. On closer inspection I found an enormous caterpillar, very beautiful in his own way but I’m not happy that he is demolishing the Crab Apple! I think it’s a Hawk moth caterpillar.
2 My Granny used to keep this little steel mirror in her handbag and, as a little girl, I was allowed to get it out now and again. I loved the painted side . The other side is just plain.
3 Tonight, some of us went to meet Cor Serenata, the choir from Port Talbot with whom we are doing a concert tomorrow night. It was a delightful evening with them singing in the garden of the hotel and being much appreciated by the other guests. You can still get tickets for the concert at St Andrew’s Church in Redruth if you are a local! (from me or from the Health Food Shop in town) . There was a beautiful sunset to be seen from the hotel lawn while they were singing.

Some caterpillars are short on the attraction front but that is a true beauty. I caught a few different hawk moths in my live trap a few weeks back and they are stunning too.

Sunsets, combined with Nature’s amazing palette of colours, ensure Life’s changing pictures provide an art gallery without parallel.

That is an amazing caterpillar. It does look like a leaf, not at all like a caterpillar.

We had one year where we had literally MILLIONS of caterpillars everywhere. They were black, with many bright colored spots and when they became butterflies, they were black, with brilliant multi-colored spots along each wing. It turns out that the caterpillar shows the colors and general “layout” of the butterfly to come.

Your granny’s mirror is beautiful and I can understand why you used to want to play with it when you were little.

Today’s sunset was gorgeous. Sometimes it is so easy to forget how special each day really is.
