To London 3rd April – May Blossom, Random Acts of Kindness and a Shrug

1    To London on the train, masses of white May blossom in the hedgerows. Reminded me of Mum and Dad who used to drive around the Cornish lanes at this time of year to note where the blossom was so that they could go back later to collect the sloes to make sloe gin.

2    I used the time on the train to sew up the shrug I have knitted for Tabitha and sewed in the label I ordered online on which is written, “Handmade with love especially for you :)”

3    I’m not a fan of the underground – crowded, noisy, impersonal – but I spotted this poster from the escalator and then witnessed just such ‘an act of kindness’.   A man left the tube train as we did but left his glasses in their case on the seat. A young woman noticed, called him and through the closing doors, just managed to pass them to him. Brilliant!

Words, Bathroom Art and Knitting

Today has been on of those days when finding the beautiful has been harder than usual. I’ve been laid up with Yellow Fever vaccination reaction, feeling completely worn out and achey, as we were warned could well happen a week after the event. So…..

1    “The words! I collected them in all shapes and  sizes and hung them like bangles in my mind.” Hortense Calisher.  I, too, am an avid collector of words.

2  Another piece of bathroom art that I love. We brought this beautiful sculpture home from Swaziland.

3  I finished knitting Tabitha’s new shrug – now to sew it all up.

Lukla to Phakding, Grey’s Anatomy and Emails

1. Tracked all of Lucy’s trek on Google maps. Today the real trek has started as they go from Lukla to Phakding.

2.  Another bitterly cold day here so stayed in and started knitting a shrug for Tabitha. Caught up on several episodes of ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ while knitting – a real treat.

3. Exchanged several emails with my lovely brother-in-law about his visit in September. We think it’s cold here. It’s -17 in Poland and colder still in Nepal!
