Pansies, Cafe and Crossing the Tamar

I love how lots of little plants survive in the most unexpected places. I spotted these pansies just after we had dropped the LiveWires at school this morning. We love these walks to school when a little hand slips into yours and wonderful conversations take place – this morning about how Harrods used to sell tigers! A long discussion ensued about whether it would be better to free them – but the city is not their habitat, what would they eat, where would they live?

Pansies grow in the most unexpected places

We always visit our favourite cafe, Joie de Vie, when we are in North Finchley and we take the LiveWires there after school for a special treat. This morning it was just coffee and delicious freshly-baked-on-the-premises Pain au Raisin for us two.

Independence, Flowerpots and Treats

We love walking to school with the children. Some of the best conversations are had on these journeys. It is also lovely to see them striding out with such confidence.

Down one of the lanes to school we spotted strange creatures in the trees over a fence.

T had art club after school today so it was J’s turn for a treat at the lovely French cafe we like to frequent when in North Finchley, Joie de Vie.

Bark, Tiles and Joie de Vie

Just look at  this beautiful bark.

I love the tiles on the floor in a coffee shop that we discovered in North Finchley today.

Our new find was the wonderful Joie de Vie, a French cafe, selling excellent coffee, the most delicious pastries and beautiful looking sandwiches. We had the best Pain au Raisin we have ever had, even in France. When we left, we were thanked for calling in and the chef put his hand to his heart as he called goodbye.  We will be going back there tomorrow..

Our Live-Wires are at school all day. It was fun this evening to hear Live Wire No 3 reading so competently already and to be able to discuss magnetism with No 2. My goodness but they are growing up quickly!
