Breakfast, Dinner and e e cummings

I made Blueberry Pancakes for breakfast.

We had candles at dinner of Duck a L’orange with kalettes.

This is a beautiful poem which we have both loved for more than 50 years. It was one of our shared moments soon after we met in the Autumn of 1966. We married less than 10 months later in August 1967 and I do know how lucky I am.

I carry your heart with me

I carry your heart with me (I carry it in
My heart) I am never without it (anywhere
I go you go, my dear; and whatever is done
By only me is your doing, my darling)

I fear
No fate (for you are my fate, my sweet) I want
No world (for beautiful you are my world, my true)
And it’s you are whatever a moon has always meant
And whatever a sun will always sing is you

Here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(Here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
And the sky of the sky of a tree called life; which grows
Higher than soul can hope or mind can hide)
And this is the wonder that’s keeping the stars apart

I carry your heart (I carry it in my heart)

e e cummings

I send love out to all my dear readers today.

A Love Poem, Flowers and Another Love Poem

It’s Valentine’s Day so here, for you all, are two poems and some flowers to share.

This one by e e cummings has been one of our favourites since we met 48 years ago.

Here are our daffodils, opening beautifully this morning.

Valentine's Day Daffodils

Valentine’s Day Daffodils

This poem by Wendy Cope has been published for the first time in The Guardian today. I think it is very beautiful. It reminds me of something my Mum used to say, “Every goodbye, even if you are only going shopping should be a proper good one!”
