After seeing the physio this afternoon and my lovely Mr S being signed off as he is doing so well, I decided we needed a celebratory pudding and as we had some pears that needed eating up, I made Squidgy Chocolate Pear Pudding and it was, indeed, scrumptious.
It’s Crocosmia season and the hedges along the lanes are full of the bright orange variety, Common Montbretia. We have that all along the top of our Cornish hedge up the side of the garden and in the beds we have a beautiful golden one and a scarlet one.
Like many of you, I’m sure, I find that the events in the world right now can be overwhelming and in writing my blog, I try to focus on the beautiful things all around us. Today, a post by Suzy whom I follow, spoke of the situation in Gaza and I thought you may (or may not) like to read it too. Here it is if you’d like to.

Glad that you and Mr. S took time to celebrate his healing!
What is happening in the world is overwhelming and so so sad, with no easy end in sight. For an intelligent species, we are so so stupid!

Overwhelming indeed and one feels so impotent. That was one reason for sharing Suzy’s post as there were some practical suggestions. We have to wonder why history means so little that the world allows it all to happen again and this time no one can say they didn’t know. I echo your question, why are we humans so stupid?

Good Mr S is doing so well. watching the news is really terrible and it breaks your heart to see how terrible the suffering is yet those who order it sitting safely behind a desk.
It is important to continue seeing the kind things and beautiful things in this wrold and pray it will become a better world for the suffering nations soon.
My Lucifer was beautiful this year, but the orange ones did not make it as they died during hte heatwave unfortunately.

You are right, finding the beautiful, acting out the kindnesses and sharing the positive are all so very important in the midst of all the horror and madness.
Sorry you lost your orange crocosmia but the Lucifers are such a good colour and can be relished. The orange ones may just be resting underground and may reappear next year. I wouldn’t blame them given the crazy temperatures. 🙂

I really liked the way you expressed what it is like and while I try to concentrate on the beautiful, we do all need to recognise the awfulness of what is happening and to try our best to do our bit to make life a little better for those suffering. I especially liked the practicality of your suggestions. and wanted to share them too. Thank you.
