A Gallery of Goodness

29 Jul

Today at Roots, along with the indoor team, I sowed Little Leprechaun lettuce, potted on Savoy Cabbage and spread out the chilli plants to give them air. I also had a walkabout to see how the whole acre was progressing and,  oh my, the wonderful crops all over the place. Enjoy the gallery of goodness and at the end, the two varieties of courgettes that I fried in garlic butter as part of our meal tonight.

Delicious!

So delicious and so good for all those people lucky enough to get their weekly supplies from the garden. 🙂

Thank you. It is a remarkable achievement for the four people who set it all up and for all the weekly volunteers. 🙂

Indeed it is and it feeds many, many people each week. 🙂

Exactly that – goodness in every row of veg and then in every bag that goes out to the 60+ customers each week.

    These look superb, Sally.
I get so frustrated that my efforts are still not reaping the rewards I know can be achieved.
I have managed to be self sufficient with lettuce, carrots, beans and few others but I am still coming up short on things like potatoes.
I shall have to dig deep this coming spring (pun intended)
    😊

Actually, digging doesn’t happen at all at Roots. There is a ‘no dig’ philosophy which we have also adopted at our allotment. The Roots team took over a field and didn’t dig at all to get where they are now 4 years later. You might find Charles Dowding interesting to read. He’s a proponent of the no dig and has a wonderful ‘garden’ full of produce. 🙂

As I mentioned…the dig deeper was “Pun intended” . I too practice no dig as much as possible and it was through Charles that I first became aware of the practice.
I just think I need to set out my stall more efficiently.
        Roll on September!
