Plough Monday, Plough Pudding and A Book

10 Jan

I know it’s Tuesday but couldn’t make Plough Pudding for supper last night so here it is today. It’s a sausagey sage and onion bread pudding that is very tasty. We served it with maple carrots and French peas with lettuce.

I found the recipe and its history in this year’s Almanac.

I bet that Almanac is full of scrumptious facts!

OK . . . Epiphany’s over. Let’s roll up our sleeves and get back to work . . . AFTER we dig into this plough pudding!

Indeed it is. I guess it will feature here again over the year. The pudding was a bit heavy! I can see it would set folk up for working in the fields. 🙂

It was much better the day afterwards, sliced and fried up in garlicky butter! 🙂
