Over on the King Harry Ferry today to meet up again with my Brother and SIL, over here from America, in St Mawes, a pretty place even in pouring rain.
Then an peaceful hour bird watching – a lovely variety (they don’t seem to mind the rain) including our first Lesser Spotted Woodpecker in some time.

Lovely to have TWO woodpeckers at one time.

It took me a while to find it; the greater spotted leaps out of the picture too easily! We have many of the latter but I would love to see the smaller version. Helpful to see the comparison between the two. (Weather is looking up after yesterday!)

I spotted the woodpecker almost immediately. I’ve only seen woodpeckers up at the cottage. They don’t seem to like the city.

We’ve decided he’s a bit of a thug! When he arrives, all the little birds leave as he attacks them!

Maybe it’s just as well that we don’t have any in our backyard.

Yes, we were delighted to see him but discover that he is a bit of a bully, turning on the smaller birds so that they all flew away. Then along came a Crow…….
