1 It was the Annual Asparagus Festival today in a local hotel so I went along to see the cookery demonstrations and to buy some delicious Cornish asparagus and other delicious Cornish produce. I bought some fabulous Duck eggs so that’s tomorrow’s supper sorted – steamed asparagus spears with poached duck egg.
2 We had some very good friends round for supper tonight and we started with Roasted Asparagus with Balsamic Dressing and Parmesan Shavings – delicious. They brought us some very beautiful Irises.
3 Valerie wrote about the pleasures of blogging today – a very interesting piece as her posts always are. I so endorse everything she says about blogging. What a world it has opened up where we can learn so much about the lives of others, their loves, their disasters, their troubles and their joys – and all with such honesty being able, as she says, to open up in this so supportive environment. I do believe real friendships develop on here.

Reference to Valerie: Some people just know how to say it just right. But we all feel it.
Every picture you post….well it’s not just a picture to post. We all are aware of the special attention you take to show how much you care for your readers. I am never just looking at scenes or place settings on a dining table. I feel I have been given a special invitation to your home and am partaking of a lovely supper just like your good friends who brought the purple irises.
I would probably arrive with a bouquet of prickly pear cacti, but I know you would arrange them beautifully and display them as the center piece on the table. 🙂

When I spoke in my blog of making friends through this world, you are one of those and I just love your comments that make me feel like the bee’s knees! 🙂
Your prickly pear cacti would be so welcome on our table as you would be at it to share a meal with us. What a shame the oceans are between us!
I just want to say again how happy I am that you are back at our virtual table sharing blogging with us all. We missed you! xx

Interesting re roast asparagus – I always fry in olive oil but they tend to shrink – how long do you roast for?…….just like Master Chef 🙂
