Jam, A T-Shirt and A Song

23 Jun

The raspberry plants at the allotment are overflowing with fruit and I knew we hadn’t used all the raspberries from last summer/autumn that I had put in the freezer so I made Raspberry Jam, the perfect jam for inside a Victoria sponge cake. We also had a pile of fresh raspberries in a meringue case with some crème fraiche for dessert tonight!

At singing this afternoon, one of the basses was wearing a t-shirt with an excellent slogan.

Our new song is by Chumbawamba, Sing About Love, and I love the words, especially the last verse.

What a canny canner you are! Hang on to the raspberries until the new crop comes in . . . then stock up on jam!

Love it! The jam went down well today in the birthday cake. 🙂

If you ever have left over jars, just send them this way 😉😋

Like you, there are never enough! If I had spares, I would certainly share. 🙂

I am so envious of your raspberry jam.
    😊
I simply must try to grow raspberries and blackberries at our spot for next season.

Oh yes, blackberries and raspberries are so delicious in pies, cakes and jam and indeed, just fresh with a meringue and a little cream! They are well worth growing. This year’s crop is already more than we can eat each day! 🙂

When we were young kids dad was stationed at RAF Wyton, in Cambridgeshire . We lived in married quarters in a cul-de – sac that backed a farmers field where there were endless ( seemed endless when one was only six or seven!) blackberry.
        hedges.
I really must make an effort to find plants this year.
