A Poem, Flowers and Sewing

04 Sep

I found this poem a few days ago and it so echoes my philosophy of looking for joy in the smallest of things.

Today I found joy in the flowers all over the city of Truro where we went shopping, here on the window sill of the bank.

This afternoon, my joy was sewing – again. I am working on a zany project with my lovely neighbour. For the moment the project is secret, prior to a production going ahead later this month. I am helping to make dollies with character. I’ll take another photo of this one as its crocheted green mohican hairdo doesn’t show well enough here.

Thank you for that lovely poem. The timing of my reading of it was exquisite, as I had just had such a moment of joy in a simple thing. The sun was shining through a newly pruned apple tree which was covered with raindrops from a recent shower. The effect was a tree shimmering with all the colours of the rainbow. Simply beautiful! I will be reading more of the poet’s work.

That sounds like a truly beautiful moment for you and so clearly described I could ‘see’ it too. How lovely. 🙂

Thank you for this lovely poem, Sally. It was very timely as I had a moment of simple joy just before I read it. The sun was shining through a newly pruned apple tree which was covered in raindrops from a recent shower. The raindrops were lit up in all the colours of the rainbow, creating a shimmering tree. Beautiful! I will explore Grace Noll Crowell further.
