A Book, A Poem and New Gloves

Last week I told you that I had bought a beautiful new book, “What you are looking for is in the library’ by Michiko Aoyama, and I have just finished it. It has been an absolute joy. I wholeheartedly recommend it as a relief in these difficult times. It’s a bit of magic in a troubled world. Here is a short poem which I really love taken from the story:

I like to wear fingerless gloves at choir so that I stay warm but can still hold the words when I need them. I bought some new ones but although very cosy, they were very boring so I have embroidered them to make them pretty.

Balls of Light and A New Book

I saw this quotation from Ezra Pound in the bookshop today.

Here is the ball of light we saw setting on our journey home.

And, I have a new book, ‘a ball of light’ in my hand. I read the first ten pages or so while I was waiting for another book to be chosen, giving it the ‘ten page test’ I used to suggest to children in my classes. Books and cats on the cover drew me to pick it up.
