Frost, Face and Stuffing Balls

12 Dec

Such a heavy frost this morning and beautiful patterns on the car reminiscent of the ice patterns on the inside of the bedroom windows when I was growing up.

After wiping the hob, the lovely Mr S drew a smiley face for me.

I have made our contribution to Christmas dinner, very delicious Sausage, Chestnut and Cranberry Stuffing using Nigel Slater’s recipe. They are now in the freezer ready for transporting.

The stuffing balls look rather delicious. And I remember the frosty windows too! Ice-cold school shirts… Only the lounge had a coal fire and even then you had to almost stand right next to it to be warm! I guess people have become so used to central heating throughout the house.

I remember too that Dad would warm my pyjamas by the fire from when I came down wrapped in a towel after my bath! You are right about the fire too – hot when facing the fire but your back stayed cold. 🙂
