Turning off the I81 to travel on happier roads we came across a small roadside cafe with lots of cars parked outside. We went in for breakfast as many Americans do and found it full of families meeting for breakfast as it is Mother’s Day here in USA. I had a Bacon biscuit and it was delicious. I took half away in a box for my lunch!
En route we stopped at the Frontier Culture Museum which was fascinating having houses from 1820 and 1850 among several others that had been moved to the site from Pensylvania. There was a most knowledgeable volunteer guide there. The following loom is a ribbon loom, just table top size and it captured my interest. I liked the old dresser and kitchen tools too. The woodwork on the side of the house fascinated Mr S.

I think if I could choose to eat a meal out, it would be breakfast. We can fix and cook up a pretty good lunch and supper, but never a hearty breakfast. I would have pancakes and bacon and eggs and fruit and juice and everything else on the menu. (well probably not) As I write this comment I am eating a bowl of soggy branflakes and coffee.

We have had some wonderful breakfasts while here in the USA. I intend to do a special post on them! At home there are variations on the good old English breakfast but nothing like here – and breakfast is not a meal we usually go out for. Here it is such a treat for us!
Have a good day, 🙂

What no grits and sausage gravy.
Shenandoah National Park is the calm and sanity before the storm of the Eastern Seaboard traffic. Washington not to bad, Baltimore can be nutz for reasons I cannot explain.
