Wise Words and Twiddle Muffs

24 Sep

“There’s so much more to life than finding someone who will want you, or being sad over someone who doesn’t. There’s a lot of wonderful time to be spent discovering yourself without hoping someone will fall in love with you along the way, and it doesn’t need to be painful or empty. You need to fill yourself up with love. Not anyone else. Become a whole being on your own. Go on adventures, fall asleep in the woods with friends, wander around the city at night, sit in a coffee shop on your own, write on bathroom stalls, leave notes in library books, dress up for yourself, give to others, smile a lot. Do all things with love, but don’t romanticize life like you can’t survive without it. Live for yourself and be happy on your own. It isn’t any less beautiful, I promise.” —Emery Allen ‪#‎TodaysMantra‬
I started working on Twiddle muffs sometime ago and you can read about them here https://mybeautfulthings.com/?s=Twiddle+muff
That one went to a local Care Home where my choir have done concerts and was well received, with some suggestions for improvements. I have now completed four more and, as suggested have added a few more things especially something to go in and out of the pocket on each one. Each has different textures and a variety of buttons and ribbons and crochet inside and out. They have been great fun to make and I hope will provide some entertainment for the Dementia patients for whom they have been made. I have made them for love of and in memory of my beautiful Mother-in-law, Madeleine

So beautiful and I love the name. 🙂 I’m sure my darling mom would have enjoyed having one of these. 🙂

We are making Twiddlemuffs too, they are such a great idea and a great way to put our craft to good use. I love the fluffy yarn on yours.

Wise words and twiddle muffs, say that twenty times without taking a breath. Just reading ‘twiddle muffs’ in the tile, just made me smile and made my day. Thank you for that.

That made me laugh! And, of course, I tried it! Glad to have made your day. 🙂

These are very lovely – I wonder if they would also help some children who find it really hard to be still and concentrate without having something for their fingers to be busy with?
Love the wise words in the first section – but it’s hard!

Very wise words, indeed. So simple and true, and yet not always easy to live.
I absolutely love your twiddle muffs, and think they would be very appreciated by dementia patients. Both of my parents have/had forms of dementia and I think my mom would have liked to fiddle with a muff such as that. I wish I could knit!
