St David’s Day, Hedgerow Flowers and Daffodil Fields

01 Mar

Happy St David’s Day to all my readers especially those who share my Welsh heritage. Today I give you daffodils, those we have seen as we drove out today, in the hedgerows and the fields of gold where the daffodils are grown. I am always reminded of Sting’s beautiful song, Fields of Gold, when I see these fields in Spring though I know he is singing of the gold of ripening barley.Click on any photo for detail.

Here, for your delectation, is Fields of Gold by Sting.

I do so much love the first daffodils of spring, they bring with them so much hope and so much joy. I am a big Sting fan, but Eva Cassidy does my favorite version of this song.

It was a difficult choice. I went with Sting but I do love the Eva Cassidy version too. I love the yellow of this season, the daffodils, the primroses and , here in Cornwall, the gorse in the hedgerows too. All very uplifting 🙂

Lovely to see the yellow colour peeping through. We are a little behind you growthwise. Happy St David’s Day!

I am really enjoying your daily doses of loveliness- thank you so much. I’m listening to Sting as I write. We played the Eva Cassidy version at my Mum’s funeral so it always moves me. Thanks, and keep on with the steady improvement.xx June

How lovely to hear from you! I love the Eva Cassidy version – it was hard to decide which one to use. I’m very happy that you are enjoying my blog too. xx
