Duck Eggs, Light Lunch and Sanded Floor

1   The golden glow of the duck eggs I was about to use for lunch was very beautiful.

2   An omelette with the duck eggs and mushrooms and salad was our simple lunch today.

3   The lovely Mr S has finished sanding the 100+ year old floor in the dining room, removing years of grime and varnish and it looks so softly beautiful. Now to decorate and then to put the furniture back.

P.S.     You will all, no doubt, be aware of the terrible murder of a young soldier in London last week. Such hatred has been stirred in some people by this. Russell Brand has written with eloquence, love and tolerance here and I thought you might like to read his words that I echo.     I love ducks… both alive and on the plate. Thanks for sharing this. The egg looked beautiful, both raw and cooked.

    My light simple lunch is a fold over peanut butter (no jelly) sandwich and a banana. No plate needed. The mouse pad does get a bit sticky though. 🙁

      No jelly?! That can’t be a proper American sandwich! We learn about the crazy Americans eating peanut butter and jelly at a very early age and cannot quite believe it! 🙂

        I try to stay away from the jelly as the label says it is high fructose stuff. 🙁
        My husband practically eats it from the jar. Instead of peanut butter and jelly, he has jelly and peanut butter.

          I did try peanut butter with jam when we visited the USA but didn’t really enjoy it. The one good thing is that it seems to stop the peanut butter clarting up the roof of your mouth! 🙂

            I was referring to pickles as in gherkins or dill, not the preparation in the UK, for example, Branston pickle, although that might be interesting also.

            I imagine that the crunch of the gherkins would be pleasing in the sandwich you describe – I like the sound of that. 🙂

    The floors are lovely…never eaten a duck egg…I believe my Mom probably did…but, we never had them…
    similar taste to chicken eggs???
    just asking…
