The Suitcase Singers, Gaudete again and Handmade with love

1 This morning it was the Suitcases who sang their hearts out practising for the upcoming gigs. We also learnt ‘Gaudete’ in four part harmony in 20 minutes! My, we’re getting good!!

2 After singing we all had Christmas lunch together in Miss Peapod’s and it was delicious. They did us proud! We then gave our newly learned ‘Gaudete’ an outing and Claire was very pleased with us!

3 This afternoon I finished Tabitha’s cardigan by sewing in the label – ‘Hand made with love especially for you’

Busking, Daffodils and a Rainbow

1 The Inglehearts sang their hearts out tonight at the late night shopping in Truro and the good people of Truro contributed £106.14 to The Phoenix Stroke Appeal.It was brilliant to be part of such a lovely group, making such a lovely sound!

2 Driving back from Falmouth where we had been to drop off some books (more culling – so hard to do), I spotted Daffodils in the hedgerow just outside Lanner! It’s December 7th!

3 There was a beautiful rainbow this morning over St Agnes Beacon. I think the pot of gold must have been in the sea.

Kashmir Lilies, Being Three and Bookcases

06 Dec

1 Sent a photo of the Kashmir Lilies to Shelagh in Vermont. They feature in one of the Cornish songs I sing with her sister-in-law, Sue. It’s The Cadgwith Anthem.

2 It’s our Grandson’s 3rd Birthday today and when we rang to sing Happy Birthday he was in the Thai restaurant for a birthday lunch. At the end they brought him an ice cream cake with candles with which he was delighted but later he was so full of sugar he wouldn’t go down for his afternoon nap!

3 We have worked all afternoon on putting books back into our new bookcases built by Jo who finished them just 4 weeks before her baby is due! We’ve not finished yet but they are looking good!

Clematis, Warm sunshine and Gaudete

1 Clematis still in flower and gorgeous. I also took photos today of nasturtiums, fuchsia, passion flowers and Kashmir lilies.

2 Despite the stormy showers and the occasional hailstone shower today, the sun felt warm on my back when I was out taking the photos.

3 Choir tonight was brilliant. I love it when we learn something new and have to work hard. Tonight it was a four part harmony for Gaudete which we’ll be singing to the public on Wednesday!

Golden boots, The Countryman and Gillian Welch

1 Gave my gold Docs an outing tonight for the….

2 ……singing at The Countryman at Piece. Fabulous tonight with people from five different groups coming together to sing Cornish carols – wonderful harmonies and joyful sounds. Everyone was smiling!

3 Came home to a Jools Holland programme featuring Gillian Welch and her amazing guitarist whose name I missed but will find out.

Brownies, Birthdays and Bookings

1 The Bloomin’ Beautiful Brownies went down very well at the Big Birthday lunch!

2 And it was a delightful Birthday lunch with lovely, lovely people. B was very pleased with his old maps and with his cake.

3 I’ve been thinking about my birthday and think I’d like to wake up on my birthday and go straight out for a walk on the beach so we have been looking for a small hotel with a room for just 2 nights in Falmouth, Perranporth or St Ives but, guess what? They are all booked up! That’s the problem with a birthday on New Year’s Eve. Maybe we’ll just have to drive the 15mins or so to the beach instead! We’re lucky to be able to do that!

Reading, Progress and Bloomin’ Brilliant Brownies

2 My piano teacher said this morning that I am making good progress. Sometimes it doesn’t feel like it so that was lovely to hear.

3 Made Jamie Oliver’s Bloomin’ Brilliant Brownies for our lovely neighbour’s birthday lunch tomorrow.

ZedShed, Baby cuddles and Lucy

01 Dec

December 1st and I’ve been writing for a month, recording good things each day and ignoring the others. Sometimes that’s not easy.

1 Finding myself at the ZedShed ready to sing and just overwhelmed with the beauty of the early morning river. We are so lucky to live here!

2 Cuddling Larissa’s 5 week old baby while singing Silent Night and then Lower Lights – such lovely and precious moments.

3 Daughter Lucy arriving at 5pm, just for tonight as she’s off to London tomorrow to be there for her nephew’s 3rd birthday. An unexpected and very welcome diversion.
