Crocus, Cyclamen and A Poem

Some delightful crocuses, newly planted last Autumn, have started to appear. They are supposed to be fragrant so I’ll let you know as more appear and open up.

The white cyclamen please me greatly.

i just love the poem for today from my book, A Poet for Every Day of the Year. it is called “On the Birth of a Son”

On the Birth of a Son

TRANSLATED BY ARTHUR WALEY
Families when a child is born
Hope it will turn out intelligent.
I, through intelligence
Having wrecked my whole life,
Only hope that the baby will prove
Ignorant and stupid.
Then he’ll be happy all his days
And grow into a cabinet minister.
