Poem, John Clare and Blue Bloom

27 Aug

Here’s a poem by John Clare that resonates with me.

Nature Has a Feeling

All nature has a feeling: woods, fields, brooks
Are life eternal: and in silence they
Speak happiness beyond the reach of books;
There’s nothing mortal in them; their decay
Is the green life of change; to pass away
And come again in blooms revivified.
Its birth was heaven, eternal it its stay,
And with the sun and moon shall still abide
Beneath their day and night and heaven wide.

John Clare, photo  by Natalie Doig, sent to me some time ago.

And a little bit of nature from our garden……

    Nice sculpture.

Not sure of the plant but I think the visitor is a female Migrant Hoverfly.(Eupeodes corollae)

        My pleasure.
Not always right, but it’s fun to ”track them down”.
Do you know the name of the plant?

Eryngium of some kind (sea holly). I recognised the hoverfly (though not the actual species)

I have a list of all the plants I have bought for this garden Ark! Plus I was talking about the eryngiums the other day and how horribly smelly some can be!

I used to think that some of my garden plants were rather smelly as well. Then I realised that after a day under a hot sun in the garden it turns out it was me!

I always meant to do this and I have collected (most) of the labels but as for the list, it never materialised and after 11 years, it’s a bit late! 🙂
