It’s twenty five years since my lovely Mum died. I love this photo of her with her little brother. She must have been about six or seven and he about two or three. I wish I knew.
A very good friend, folk singer John the Fish, sang ‘Imagine’ at Mum’s Humanist funeral.
Imagine there’s no heaven
It’s easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people living for todayImagine there’s no countries
It isn’t hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people living life in peaceYou may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will be as oneImagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people sharing all the worldYou may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will live as one.
The following photo was taken in Carn Brea Castle, just nearby, Β on the occasion of Mum and Dad’s Golden Wedding in 1989. They were married on September 2nd 1939, the day before war was declared and had their honeymoon in Blackpool rather than Paris which had been the chosen destination.

Have not seen the picture of your mother as a child. How sweet and beautiful.

Thank you. She is still missed as you know. In times of worry, I still turn to my MiniMum on my shoulder. π

Isn’t it amazing the time travelers a photo can make of us? Thank you for sharing this with us Sally.
