Sara Teasdale, Beach Rules and A Cat

01 Apr

April is National Poetry Month, NaPoMo, and I aim to give you a new poem every day for this month. Here is a lovely April poem by Sara Teasdale,

Morning by Sara Teasdale

I went out on an April morning
All alone for my heart was high,
I was a child of the shining meadow,
I was a sister of the sky.
There in the windy flood of morning
Longing lifted its weight from me,
Lost as a sob in the midst of cheering,
Swept as a sea-bird out to sea.

This plaque caught my eye today.

Beach Rules

Beach Rules

Coming away from Pilates this morning, this pretty cat crossed my path.

So many beautiful metaphors in Sara’s poem. And I love the sea and beach so much that i live close by. .

So do we, 10 miles to the North coast and 12 to the South. Aren’t we lucky? 🙂
