Words from the Dalai Lama

06 Sep

From the Dalai Lama:
“Right from the moment of our birth, we are under the care and kindness of our parents. Later, when we are old, we are again dependent on the kindness of others. Since we are so dependent on others at the beginning and end of our lives, how could it be that we would neglect kindness towards others in the middle”

Be kind……

We are in Granollers, Spain, staying with our son, having a relaxing, catching up day  and I have finished the cardigan for Grandbaby N, moving to Spain soon we hope from Senegal and needing warm clothes. WordPress on the iPad won’t let me add photos, very frustrating!

He is truly a fine fellow.
I liked him more when he said ‘If scientific analysis were conclusively to demonstrate certain claims in Buddhism to be false, then we must accept the findings of science and abandon those claims”

He is beyond the wisest man, such simplicity but power.

It’s true. I discovered the profoundness of his words when my father passed. True, it would have been easier on my mother if he was in a nursing home. But that is not what she wanted. Dieing is not pleasant to watch, but in some way it is rewarding, as strange as that may sound.

Enjoy Spain, enjoy your son’s family. Don’t be frustrated. Sometimes you just have to say…….well you know what I mean.

Thank you for your wise words. I do need to live in the moment and enjoy the family. Thank you.
I know what you mean too about being with the dying being rewarding in a strange kind of way. I spent 17 days with my Dad in the hospice as he was dying and there were some very beautiful and rewarding moments there. The people who worked there were among the kindest I have ever known, showing care to both of us in equal measure. Thank you yet again for bringing some of those times back for me.

What beautiful words from the Dalai Lama; thank you for sharing them with us.

Granollers, Spain must be beautiful. I haven’t been there yet but will imagine it for the time being (until you can post pictures again 🙂 )
