The wind has broken our yellow gladiolus so I brought it in and put it with some Japanese anemones. When I came down this morning the sunlight was making it glow.
Yesterday I caught the Trelissick Water Tower in the gloom but still love the golden squirrel.
My poet friend, Kim Ridgeon, thought carefully before publishing the following thoughtful and rather disturbing poem. Likewise I have thought before posting it here. I have the same reservations about my blog – it’s about beautiful things and I try to avoid politics here (Not elsewhere!) but Kim’s poem is a beautiful piece about the horror we are all feeling about Afghanistan.

Lack of politics here, does in fact speak to politics. Loudly I might add.
The Poem. Did you know there is a formal garden in Kabul, called, Gardens of Babur? Am not sure what state it is in these.

Thank you for that comment about politics. I really appreciate that. I looked up the formal garden you mention and they look very lovely in the photos but as you say, what state might they might be in now. Let’s hope they have been untouched and can remain so, a haven in a war torn land.

What a gorgeous arrangement.
And what a lovely gothic looking turret . . . I’d love to live in it.
BTW: We inherited a squirrel weathervane when we moved here. It’s NOT gold! If you lived a bit closer, I’d give it to you for your garden.

Well, I have a plan! The Water Tower is a National Trust property and is rented out for holidays. My brother and SIL have stayed there a few times. So, my plan, you come for a holiday and stay in the Water Tower and bring the squirrel weather vane that you so very kindly offer, and we can meet up and share stories in the beautiful gardens of Trelissick! How about that? xx
