Week 4 – January 19th – 25th

Three weeks since my operation and the start of my fourth week as a new woman!

The wakeful nights continue but I am mostly going straight back to sleep after each wake-up-to-pee call. The faintiness continues too but far less frequently and lasts for less time so I am improving in every way! I am finding most of the exercises easier thought the sitting one where I have to raise my leg and straighten my knee and hold for 5 seconds is still difficult and uncomfortable. The one where I have to slide my leg out to the right while lying down is actually almost easy now!

We went out briefly on Thursday! Just a drive to St Agnes where I could stand on the cliffs and breathe in the sea air and take a few steps with my crutches, along the level ground. That was brilliant! You can see a photo here.

Friday brought a delightful visit from good friends who brought with them a delicious Lemon Drizzle Cake made by Ti.

Saturday was another gloriously crisp winter’s day and we went to Falmouth for a short walk by the sea near Gylly Beach. That was hard work but I am getting better at the walking each day, building up a more consistent rhythm with less listing. Photos here.  On Sunday, the very good friends we had to put off a couple of weeks ago came round with a delicious quiche and salad for lunch. What a treat!  Our lovely neighbour , S, from next door brought us a delicious goulash for our evening meal so we have been well and truly spoilt today!

By the end of this week I have also cut the Paracetamol to twice a day, one a couple of hours before bed and the other when I wake about 6 hours later,  and I am still taking Codeine at bedtime. This is keeping everything at bay so that I am comfortable most of the time. If I do too much, I get a deep achey feeling in my hip and my leg feels heavy again. I have decided though, that I would far rather have really good days when I am having fun and getting a bit more exercise and then a tired day rather than have all the days on an even and less satisfying keel!

Yes, indeed! I reciprocated by taking special Delicious Gingerbread to N as she now recovers from an op! 🙂
