I Have My Date!

From the pre-op assessment on, we were on tenterhooks. Every time the phone rang, I was hoping it was Sam, Mr Regan’s secretary, with a date. And then came the call on December 15th, I was to go in on 29th December! The op would be done this year! I would be starting the New Year with my new hip! Hooray!

A very quiet Christmas came and went and my bag was packed. The day before I felt so jittery, couldn’t sit still and really was beside myself with nervousness. I was reminded of this:
You’re braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. A.A. Milne  and tried to persuade myself of this truth.

Unexpectedly, I slept really well and woke at 5am feeling calm and ready, had the requisite shower, (my last for 6 weeks, the aforementioned shower board not fitting our bath!) and we drove down to St Michael’s Hospital in Hayle for my 7am appointment.

Just before we left home, I checked the emails and found this Cherokee incantation inside a wonderful uplifting message from my beautiful Sister-in-law in America. She herself had been sent it prior to surgery in November by her niece.

Now listen! Great Spirit!

The loved ones of Sally Smith are calling to you!
Envelop her in a protective bubble
So that anyone who enters is focused on her well-being.
May all go according to plan,
With all associated issues resolved.

Now! One assumes!

I enjoyed reading all about your ‘hip journey’. Wow. My son had hip replacement surgery 2 years ago, quite the ordeal. He is doing much better for sure. I hope you are doing better. big hugs. Renee ♥

Thank you very much. Every day I get stronger and feel better! I’m glad your son is doing much better with a new hip. He must have been very young for such an operation?
All the best to you and yours 🙂
