Just Leaving The Intensive Care Baby Unit

I had just left my baby,

breathing –

–  just –

had just stepped into the lift

when the hospital porter joined me,

a blanketed bundle cradled in his arms.

‘So sorry love,’ he said.

‘Didn’t know you would be here.

Just didn’t make it, this one…’

and he pressed the button for the Basement.

I stepped out of the lift,

one twin left upstairs,

breathing  –

– just –

but I just had to get home

to feed his little sister.

Our third baby turned out to be twins. At 11 days, after my asking and asking about his health and being sent home with the comment,”That’s two lovely babies you have there. Why all the fuss?” D was admitted to hospital the very next day with a heart problem which required immediate surgery. This really happened as I was leaving him one day.

Thank you so much. D, after 3 heart operations before he was three, has grown to be a wonderful 6’2 young man and he makes us very proud! 🙂

Yes! You might like to look at his wedding pictures from last year when he married a beautiful Senegalese girl. 🙂

Sorry! I meant to say: If you put Senegalese wedding into the search on the right hand side, several posts about the wedding should come up. 🙂
