We went to a bookshop today! We had pre-ordered and didn’t stop to browse but it felt like a milestone. I had really looked forward to strolling around Penzance but it was no fun though I have some photos for you. There were many, many people who were clearly ‘on holiday’ without a care in the world, some having great fun in the inner harbour at high tide which was lovely to see, others filling the pavements which wasn’t!

As I write, 6th August, things are still scary! More so in some ways as everywhere is so full of visitors, many of whom don’t stay far enough away nor do they wear masks! We are staying home or going into our own little town. 🙂

I tried Looe on Monday of this week and it was heaving – well up to usual summer levels. I too, avoid it during the school holiday weeks anyway, but sadly I think my visits will now have to be early morning or evening until Sept. I’m pleased for our businesses but I miss my little town.

Lots of agapanthus in Hayle! I was debating about going into Penzance or St Ives on Friday when I had to have my car repaired and had 2-3 hours to fill (I can’t get back home as there is no public transport close to where I live which is a huge disadvantage). Glad I decided to just walk around Hayle which was relatively quiet and the George V garden was a nice place to sit and read for a while.

I think my mistake was going on a Saturday! During school holidays we always stay near home at the weekends. I really wanted my book which was ready for collection … When the next book is in, already on order or I would go online (trying to support local!) we will go early and mid week! Very glad you had a good walk and found a lovely spot to sit and read. 🙂

Saturday morning is usually OK as that is changeover time so people leaving and new ones not yet arrived! But I know what you mean. We stay close to home too in July and August, but being close to home since March is wearing a bit thin now 😕

I agree, really had enough of this now but we will be staying near home to stay safe. 🙁
We heard the CEO of Treliske saying that all leave is cancelled from end September as they expect another wave. So many visitors suggests it might be sooner. Stay safe. xx

Gorgeous aren’t they? We have some in our garden but they are well behind the Penzance ones – their climate is kinder than ours in Redruth. 🙂
