Because squirrels kept eating the bird food, we bought a baffle to stop them,
However when I came down this morning, there was a squirrel feasting on the bird food! We think he may have jumped from Welly Dog up to the ring on the feeder – clever little beast!
The lane we love is getting darker and darker as the oak tree leaves get thicker – and it was a very grey day today.
Sunday is our day for reading stories to the little LiveWires in Barcelona. They have loved the monster book that our dear friend lent us, “When a Monster is Born” so much that we thought we would add to their Monster education by getting ”Not Now, Bernard” for them too. We read this to our own four some 40 years ago and it is still a best seller. They loved it! 
There was a peaceful and socially distanced Black Lives Matter demonstration in Falmouth today that, but for the virus, we would have been at. Instead, we lit a candle which we burned for almost nine minutes. Our son in Barcelona and his (Senegalese) 12 year old daughter were at the event in Barcelona which was very well attended.

We used to have a Yankee Flipper bird feeder, which flips the squirrels away when they step on it. They don’t get hurt, and it’s quite amusing to see them flying away from the feeder.

I have equally clever Magpies who smell suet balls from miles around and just cannot resist!

We have largely ‘baffled’ and beaten our squirrels by making spheres from wire hanging baskets, wiring the gaps to keep the spaces small and hanging the feeders inside them. Occassionally a squirrel gets in but then has great difficulty escaping which gives us the chance to rush out and frighten it off. Hopefully to deter it from trying again!

Squirrels are great at making alternative plans when it comes to bird feeders, but nice try with the baffle. It obviously didn’t baffle the squirrels. 😅

Too right! They always find a way! I have seen some wonderful squirrel feats on Youtube. 🙂
