I spent much of the morning at St Michael’s Hospital in Hayle where I have had steroid injections in both ankles to combat the arthritic pain. The injections are uncomfortable to have done but give me relief for about 6 months so are very well worth it. The staff are wonderful – kind and understanding, friendly, efficient and can’t do enough to make the patients feel good about their treatment. In this photo, with prepared ankles, I am about to go down to the operating theatre where the injections are done with x-ray guidance, Thank you to everyone especially Simon who allowed me to squeeze his hand very tightly. He said he was a rugby player and could stand any pain I inflicted! Tea and Toast afterwards were greatly appreciated too!
Two days resting and being sensible and then back to life as I love it – and pain free!

What a relief it must be to be pain free Sally…I’ve been flat on my back for over a week and none of the four painkillers the doctor prescribed are able to muffle the pain.. que sera sera !!

So sorry to hear that your back is giving you pain. Voltarol gel gave me some relief but maybe that’s one of the things your Dr has already suggested. Also, a tens machine was wonderful when my hips were bad. I would send you mine but maybe you could get one over the internet. Mine is called Smart Relief Tens therapy. I bought mine in America just before my first hip op and it really helped. I do hope something helps, even just my beautiful things, just a bit.
We can enjoy one walk a day around a lovely local trail but can’t do coastal or far away while this dreadful virus is around. At least my ankles don’t complain at the moment which is wonderful! And the sun is shining!

I struck an emergency doctor on Easter Sunday, who doubled the drugs bless her, and that has really helped… my usual doctor hates prescribing, and had only given me a week’;s supply, this treasure gave me a months worth ! I’ve tried Voltaren, but it didn’t seem to make a difference – Douglas has created a heat bag, using rice and a sock, which helps, It’s a work in progress!

NHS is the best. I worked as a nurse for 39 years, saw lots of changes but loved working there. The majority of people who work in NHS are fantastic! Glad you had a good experience 👍xx

I can’t stand needles, either. But good to hear it’s a 6 month stay.
Protect the NHS. If it’s anything like the Australian system, then it’s damn good. Brazil’s national health system is surprising good, too. Some overcrowding in SP and Rio, but it broadly meets the needs, and all basic meds for seniors are completely free.
