Passion, Perfume and Puddle

12 Jan

Regular readers will know both that I love Gorse (Furze) flowers and the Cornish saying that Kissing is only out of fashion  “When the furze is out of bloom;” that is to say, never!

Turning one corner on our walk we smelled a delicious perfume, not the gorse which does smell of honey, but we think, the bank of pink flowers we passed. I don’t know what they are but hope Jude may be able to help.

The walk along the Flat Lode Trail was very muddy and the bigger puddles reflected the scudding clouds very clearly.

Love the gorse and the heliotrope. So looking forward to visiting your local flora in June!

The hedgerows should be glorious from May through June. 🙂

I love the smell of gorse. Lovely reflections. Winter walks have their own pleasures don’t they.

Yes, they do. I love a cold bright day. It’s the never-ending rain that gets me down. 🙂

Winter Heliotrope – Petasites fragrans – supposed to smell like cherry pie! They grow all along the lanes around here.

Yes! I recognised it too, thanks to Jude helping me out on my blog 🙂 It doesn’t appear in our lane, which is rather dark, but since learning of its exostence, I see it along the more open verges. I’m always in the car though; I need to stop and smell the heliotrope!

Thank you! It really does smell lovely and quite like the Heliotrope that I grow in the summer though it doesn’t look at all like it. You are a star! 🙂
