Christmas Boxes

25 Nov

A few years ago, a young man in Cornwall started the Cornwall Christmas Box scheme. He had the idea to collect together in a box, all the things needed for a Christmas dinner for a family.Today we dropped off two boxes of Christmas dinners. They joined another 8 which others had delivered and that’s just one drop-off place and a week early so I’m hoping there will be loads to be distributed all over Cornwall.

Last year almost 100 were donated. Maybe this year there will be even more. Sadly, the need is greater than ever. Almost unbelievable, about a third of children in Cornwall are living in poverty

It takes an awful lot of money to make a fighter bomber to send to places like Syria, dontcha know? And someone has to pay for it.
Sadly, people such as Theresa May’s husband don’t seem to be able to understand this.

Good for you, Sally. Someone will not go hungry over xmas this year.

You are right, of course. It makes me so mad so we do what we can.

This is the first time I’ve come across this scheme. Plenty of time before Dec 4th for me to get involved 🙂

So pleased to hear that, Sandra. That’ll be four of my friends now also contributing to the Christmas Boxes. 🙂 🙂 🙂

I love this initiative, and sad for the reasons it is needed.
